Canvas-backed paintable liner
 Pre-trimmed | Easy-to-hang | durable | mildew resistant

Your purchase of our canvas-backed liner will reward you with many years of complete satisfaction. To assist you in application, we offer the following suggestions:

Each roll should be of the same product number.

Preparation… Our quality canvas-backed liner may be applied to any smooth, clean, dry surface. All loose material (old wallcovering, plaster, etc.) must be removed from the wall. Old vinyl wallcovering must be removed entirely.

Cracks should be filled with spackling compound or patching plaster and sanded smooth. Glossy or enamel walls should be lightly sanded and washed with common household detergent. Rinse clean and dry. Greasy walls should be washed with a strong ammonia solution (1 part ammonia to 6 parts water), rinsed and dried. New plaster must be thoroughly dry. Wallborard construction should have one (1) coat of acrylic primer/sealer applied and allowed to dry prior to hanging.

Mildew… On old walls where mold spores may be present, a thorough washing with brown Lysol® or chlorine bleach solution (1 cup Lysol® or Clorox® to 3 quarts water) is strongly recommended. Rinse clean and dry. This will help guard against mildew.

Special Precaution… If it is desired to maintain future strippability of the liner, it is recommended to prime the wall with acrylic primer. This will also improve color uniformity if the wall to be covered has strongly contrasting colors or white patches on a dark paint.

Paste… The use of a pre-mixed vinyl adhesive or other high quality adhesive is recommended to this liner product.

Application… Cut strips a few inches longer than required to allow for trimming at ceiling and baseboard. To insure hanging the first piece straight, use a plumb line. Brush paste thoroughly to the back of each strip making sure edges are well pasted. Repaste any dry areas that appear or if there is a delay in hanging.

Do not stretch material to butt seams - slide the entire strip. If the strip goes up unevenly, just peel it off the wall and rehang.

Use a "smoothing" brush to remove air pockets or paste lumps working toward the uncovered wall to assure complete adhesion to the wall. Lightly roll or press seams down. In corners or other areas where it is necessary to overlap, the vinyl surface should be lightly sanded so the paste will "bite" into it. Trim at ceiling, baseboard, windows and doors with a single edge razor blade (change razor blades often) or sharp scissors.

Note: Extreme care should be exercised when trimming the liner around all electrical outlets. Cut clean around all electrical openings so that there is adequate clearance allowed between material and electrical wiring and boxes. It is recommended that the electricity be turned off when working around the outlet.

To Clean… Sponge with a warm, mild soap solution. Do not use abrasive cleaners or cleaner containing chlorine bleach or solvents.

Painting Over Canvas-Backed Liner… Once the liner has been installed and allowed to dry for at least 24 hours, it is ready to paint. No primer is needed.

Hanging Over Canvas-Backed Liner… Once the liner has been installed and allowed to dry for at least 24 hours, it is ready for hanging additional wallcovering over it. Use a quality pre-mixed adhesive designed for hanging over vinyl wallcovering even when hanging over pre-pasted wallcovering.
